Hi all, I would like to say a huge thank you to all who ensured that today's Broadlea Garden Official Opening Ceremony was the success that it was. We were very honoured to have been in a position in which Barca and the Bramley Care Bears work so well together in our endevours to provide a positive difference for our community. A huge thank you also to all who attended, there was such a lovely atmosphere, very welcoming and friendly. Last but not least a huge thank you to Deputy Liutenant Yvonne Stocks who kindly agreed to officially open the garden. Please see below the explanation of the Lord Liutenant: Role of the Lord-Lieutenant Lord-Lieutenants are appointed by the Sovereign on the recommendation of the Prime Minister. The duties include Escorting Royal visitors when they pay official visits to the County of West Yorkshire. Represent The King at a wide range of events including duties with the armed forces and cadets, the Police, the Church, the universities, civic engagements, businesses, charities and the arts. Lieutenancy duties also include presenting honours on behalf of the Crown, and involvement in the honours system. Liaise with local units of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army, Royal Air Force and their associated Cadet Forces. The role of the Lieutenancy is entirely non-political. The appointment carries no pay. Deputy Lieutenants Deputy Lieutenants are appointed by the Lord-Lieutenant and come from all walks of life, from across the County. They come from all walks of life and serve until attaining the age of 75. Deputy Lieutenants assist the Lord-Lieutenant in carrying out his role as The Kings representative.
